Dear General Secretary,

Re.
Press Accreditation for the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics: Osaka,
Japan

As you are aware, the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics will be held in Osaka, Japan
from 25 August to 2 September 2007. Please be informed that you will shortly be receiving the
press accreditation forms for this event from the Osaka LOC.

As was the case in the past editions of the World Championships in Athletics, national quotas
will be applied for written press and photographers. These quotas have been established in cooperation
with the IAAF Press Delegate and the Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive
(AIPS), taking into consideration the actual number of journalists and photographers from each
country who were present at past editions of the World Championships.

National quotas have been calculated to meet 1000 places for written press and 300 capacity for
photographers. The allocation of quotas is in keeping with the IAAF’s philosophy of allowing
media representation from all 212 IAAF Member Federations.

The allocated quota for written press from your country is: 1

The allocated quota for photographers from your country is: 0

Please be aware that once the initial accreditation deadline is passed, on the basis of
accreditation requests received, it may be possible to proceed to some adjustments in the
national quotas. At that moment, an additional allocation to your country may be considered if
properly justified.

Note that, in accordance with IAAF policy, press accreditation forms in each country are
distributed by the national athletics federation. In order to ensure that only professional
journalists apply for accreditation, we recommend that you contact the national sports writers
association, if such an organisation exists in your country, to ensure full co-operation on this
matter.

Please forward these forms to the relevant written press journalists and photographers in your
country and advise them that they post their accreditation requests as soon as possible to the
Osaka 2007 Media Office at the following address:

The accreditation forms for written press and photographers may not be used by TV and radio
journalists, who will receive forms directly through the appropriate channels. Should you
notwithstanding be approached by broadcasters concerning accreditation for the World
Championships, please refer them to the IAAF Communications Department.

The deadline for returning the forms to Osaka is 20 April 2006. Please note that all
accreditation forms are numbered and no photocopies will be accepted. All forms must be
accompanied by a photograph of the journalist applying for accreditation.

Only after the IAAF considers each form will the LOC send a confirmation letter with the
relevant information to accredited journalists.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation in this matter.

Kind regards,

Pierre Weiss
General Secretary
